2018 Post Script
A lot has happened in the years since I wrote this book. September 12, 2012 Radical Muslim terrorists attacked our Embassy in Benghazi and killed our Ambassador Chris Stevens, U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith, and two CIA contractors Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty.
There have been many earthquakes, typhoons, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions. Nature has not been quiet, There were even hundreds injured in Russia when a meteorite exploded over Chelyabinsk.
There have been hundreds of terrorist attacks around the world with thousands killed and more thousands injured. It is July now and already there have been more than 20 terrorist attacks (not counting those in Israel) with more than 800 people killed and over 1,000 injured around the world. Two attacks within eight days in Afganistan killed 98 and injured 170 people.
An update: July 2018, Turkey has now become a radical Muslim country and an avowed enemy of Israel. Some have espoused the view that Turkey - not Russia is the Gog of scripture. This does not mean that Russia could not be involved, directly or indirectly, in the invasion of Israel. Frankly, it would seem more likely that Russia would continue to behave as they have in the past, provoking, instigating and supplying money, weapons, military training and advisers, etc. It would make more sense for them to stand back and watch the radical Islamist countries of the Middle East slug it out with Israel with the idea that when they are all beat up Russia could step in and claim the prize.
The Middle East is even more unstable now than when this was written. Egypt's newly elected President was removed by the Egyptian military, Syria is in the midst of internal war, Saudi Arabia is less stable after the death of their king.
Yemeni President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi, an ally of the U.S. in the fight against al Queda, resigned after Houthi rebels stormed his residence. His Prime Minister and Cabinet also resigned.
Our world is becoming a more dangerous place with each passing year. Civil unrest is becoming an increasing problem as more and more people view the authorities as the problem rather than the solution to the problem. Nevertheless, some things have gotten a little better even if only temporarily.
Obama was replaced by President Trump. Efforts are afoot to stem the leaks in our southern border. Vetting of immigrants is no longer out of the question. North Vietnam is showing signs of being willing to talk and has declared that they will no longer pursue a nuclear weapon. The stock market is rebounding, corporations are bringing their overseas manufacturing and investments back home. Jobs are increasing and unemployment is going down.
