Chapter 11

The Antichrist

The Radical Muslim Messiah?

Through the centuries since the Apostle John penned the Revelation countless believers and scholars have attempted to gain insight into the identity of the prophesied Antichrist. Many thought that Adolph Hitler was the Antichrist. More recently some have considered the possibility that Mikhail Gorbechev, Saddam Hussein or Osama bin Laden might be the Antichrist. But such speculation is not a new phenomenon. Historically the anti-Semitic and/or anti-Christian actions of many such as; Saint John Chrysostom (A.D.345-407), Pope Urban II and in 1208 Pope Innocent III, have led to such speculation. Indeed, there have been numerous persons influenced by the spirit of Antichrist and there may be more. Nevertheless, scripture speaks of one individual who, inspired by and indwelled by Satan, will be “the Antichrist” of prophecy.

For many years Bible scholars have speculated about how the prophesied Antichrist will deceive the nations, rise to great power and authority and ultimately demand worship. Some have said he will be a charismatic European political leader. Others have identified him with the Pope. Some contend the Jews will believe him to be their Messiah, others believe the Jews will resist him. Some think he will rule the entire world while others say he will rule a powerful conglomerate of European and Asian nations that will exert great influence over, but not rule, the entire world.

We have already seen that, whoever he is, he will need to have great influence over the adherents of Islam, especially the Radical Muslims. Is it possible that this future evil leader will, in fact, be the long anticipated messiah, not of the Jews and Christians, but of the Radical Muslims?

The radical Muslim leader of Iran's government Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a prime representative of the problems in dealing with radical Islamists. He does not reason or negotiate on the basis of domestic needs or political realities - but rather on the basis of his religious beliefs which are bizarre to say the least.

Ahmadinejad, a devotee of the extremely radical Ayatollah Khomeini, believes that he is chosen to bring about the return of the twelfth (hidden) Imam, the Islamic messiah, by starting a cataclysmic war, a holocaust that will set the stage for the Imam to convert the entire world to Islam. Ahmadinejad, in fact, has made claims that he has met with, and spoken with, the hidden Imam. He will say or do anything to carry out his agenda.

Iran's president [Mahmoud Ahmadinejad] believes he was placed in his position to finish the work of his hero, Ayatollah Khomeini, and bring about an apocalyptic event that would result in the spread of the Islamic revolution far beyond the boundaries of Iran. He will use whatever means are at his disposal -- suicide bombers with conventional dynamite-laden backpacks, dirty bombs and/or missiles carrying nuclear payloads -- in order to achieve his goals. The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 149

Evans quotes Alan Dershowitz:

--religious extremism is always more dangerous than secular extremism. The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 110

--Iranians are not Arabs but Persians. Theirs is not a racial war but a religious one. The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 110

Consider the following comment by author Faisal Malick:

Muslims have made a decision (to) take over free nations and they are diligently working on their goal. p.164

Evans quotes Walid Shoebat, former Palestinian terrorist;

--. This is the message throughout the jihad and the Muslim world: "We come to represent the Lord of the worlds, this world, and the underworld. Become Muslim or die.” (Emphasis added). The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 111 (Emphasis mine).

In June 2002, following the destruction of the World Trade Towers in New York City, Soleiman Abu Gheith, bin Laden's press secretary, made a terrifying announcement on a defunct Internet site, “We have the right," said Abu Gheith, "to kill four million Americans - two million of them children - and to exile twice as many and wound and cripple hundreds of thousands." --. In the perverted and warped minds of these fanatics, the four million represented the number that needed to be killed to balance the scales. The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 155.

Israeli General Yossi Peled is quoted by Evans:

The second point is that they think in a different way than you and me and most of the Western world. Maybe they will be ready to sacrifice half of the Islamic world to destroy half of the Western world. It's possible because they think a different way, have a different religion, live according to a different mentality. And already, they are strong enough to convince their people it is okay to sacrifice a million to achieve control. The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 156

Apparently in the fanatical Islam mind-set, it is O.K. to kill Muslim brothers, for they will attain heaven; the hated infidel will, however, go to their reward in hell. The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 157

The youngsters are taught that to sacrifice themselves as martyrs for the "cause" is the ultimate goal, and they must be ready at all times for the opportunity to attain that goal. The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 157

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has made it clear that:

-- the threat here is, in fact, global - that it encompasses even those Muslims who in any way would seek to make peace with Israel. He's made that intention clear by saying that those Muslims who would recognize Israel will burn in the Uma of Islam. Ahmadinejad is a global threat, and his criminality is global in its intent. The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 158

Uma refers to splendor. It appears the he believes when “True Islam” achieves its goals and comes to its “splendor “those who have sought to make peace with Israel will burn.

The indoctrination of the martyr complex has become so ingrained in the radical Islamic psyche that human life has no value except for how the person dies. The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 159

The following is from the Stand for Israel Blog, of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, "Rabbi Eckstein" <rabbieckstein@ifcj.org >

September 22, 2010,
On his seventh visit to New York, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated that Iran will never recognize Israel. The Iranian leader is in New York to attend meetings at the U.N. General Assembly. As is his custom, Ahmadinejad used the platform to ridicule and attack Israel and the U.S. He went on to criticize western media for its bias against Muslims, bashed capitalism, and called for a new world order. (Emphasis mine).

Evans quotes Ayatollah Khomeini:

Either we shake one another’s hands in joy at the victory of Islam in the world, or all of us will turn to eternal life and martyrdom. In both cases, victory and success are ours. The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 159

Evans continues:

While Khomeini was a hero to Ahmadinejad, his true mentor is Ayatolla Mohammad Taghi Mesbah Yazdi. The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 160

In my interview with James Woolsey, he touched on the subject of Yazdi and his influence over Ahmadinejad:

The reason Mesbah Yazdi was exiled -- in 1979 by the Ayatolla Khomeini was because Khomeini thought he was too radical. So Ahmadinejad's mentor was too radical for Khomeini. The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 160

My first meeting today was in the State house with the minister of state, Karim Sinjari. Said Karim, "Your army is in a holy war with jihadists worldwide. Thousands of Iraqi fanatics lived in Iran and returned home as agents with the full support of Iran. Remember, the Iranian revolution was planned in al Najaf by Ayatolla Khomeini. Al Najaf knows well how to plan Islamic revolutions. The only reason they are not attacking you in America is because you invited them to attack you in Iraq." The Final Move Beyond Iraq Mike Evans, 2007, Frontline Publishing, p. 195

A fact not generally known is that many radical Muslims, especially in Iran and Iraq, are expecting a Muslim messiah they refer to as the Twelfth Imam or Mahdi. Let’s examine the issue of who this Twelfth (Hidden) Imam is.

The Twelfth (Hidden) Imam

It is imperative that we understand something about their beliefs, if we seek any real understanding of why the radical Islamists act as they do. Most wars in history and most enemies our nation has faced were driven by political or practical agenda; desire for territory, power/control, resources, self-protection, etc. Such motivations tend to be pragmatic and when one side or the other clearly has the upper hand the war is over. The radical Islamists, however, are not pragmatic. They are religious zealots immersed in beliefs that skew their world view toward apocalypse. They are quite willing to destroy the world to win it for Islam.

Not all Shiites are radical but many radical Islamists are Shiites.

Presently, Sunnis represent about 85 percent of the world's 1.3 billion Muslims, and Shiites about 15 percent. Shiites, however, are the majority in Iran, Iraq, and Bahrain. Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad Mark Hitchcock, 2007, Multinomah Books p. 31. (Emphasis mine).

Using the figures above 15% of 3.5 billion Muslims would be about 195 million Shiite Muslims. The driving force behind much of this radical activity is the Shiite Twelvers belief in the twelfth or hidden Imam.

In Shiite Islam, the title imam is reserved for “Muhammad’s male descendants through Ali and Tatima."

Shiite Islam is split into three main divisions. The controversy between the groups centered on the number of Imams who succeeded Muhammad.

  • The Zaydis (called the Fivers) recognized five imams.

  • The Ismailis (called Seveners) recognized seven.

  • The Ithna Ashari (also known as the Twelvers) recognized twelve imams. This group is the most popular of the three among Shiites. Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad Mark Hitchcock, 2007, Multinomah Books p.39.

The radical religious sect espousing this belief is the Twelvers which are the largest group of Shiites. Consider what Mark Hitchcock tells us about their beliefs:

Imam Hasan al-Askari, was the eleventh Imam. He died in 874. It appears that the leaders were unaware of the birth of Muhammad [Abu'l-Qasim Muhammad or Muhammad al-Muntazar ("Muhammad the Awaited One"), so they approached the eleventh imam's brother Ja'far....Suddenly a young boy stepped forward and said; "Uncle, stand back! For it is more fitting for me to lead the prayers for my father than for you."....After the funeral the boy was never seen again, and Shiite tradition maintains that from that year the boy went into occultation or hiding.Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad Mark Hitchcock, 2007, Multinomah Books p.40.

Twelvers believe the Hidden imam or Mahdi disappeared in a well that's located in a cave in Samarra, Iraq. The lesser Occultation lasted from AD 874 to 941. During this time the Mahdi communicated with the outside world through four successive agents who delivered his messages to these followers. When the fourth of these human agents died in AD 941, the Hidden Imam ceased communication, and the period known as the Greater Occultation began....

...., the main thrust behind Twelver belief is that the Twelfth Imam did not die but has been concealed from the eyes of man. His life has been miraculously prolonged until the day when he will manifest himself by God's permission. Twelvers believe that the Twelfth Imam will appear "as the divinely guided Mahdi at the end of time to vindicate his followers, restore the faithful community, and usher in a perfect Islamic society of justice and truth." Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad Mark Hitchcock, 2007, Multinomah Books p. 40-41.. (Emphasis mine).

Let’s look at their actual beliefs:

Official Iranian (Shiite) Eschatology

  1. The Mahdi is coming soon.

  2. Waiting for his coming is called "Awaiting Redemption.

  3. "The Imam Mahdi is a direct descendant of the prophet Muhammad.

  4. He will appear suddenly. A voice from the skies will announce his reappearance as the holy Ka'ba in Mecca.

  5. He will be joined by 313 of the most devoted, enlightened believers, who will pledge loyalty to him.

  6. Only God knows the exact time of his appearance on earth, although some believe it will occur on a Friday or in conjunction with the Spring Equinox.

  7. The Mahdi will remain in Mecca for a while after his reappearance.

  8. He will then travel to Medina.

  9. Sofyani, an archenemy, will attack Syria and Iraq and commit great crimes against humanity in Iraq.

  10. The Mahdi will send troops who kill Sofyani in Jerusalem.

  11. Jesus will return and serve as the Mahdi's lieutenant or deputy.

  12. The Mahdi will establish the seat of his global government in the city of Kufa (in modern Iraq). His headquarters will be in the Sabla Mosque.

  13. The earth will be filled with justice--a global government of peace and justice.

  14. Islam will be the pinnacle of faith. All will convert to Islam. It will be the one pure, lasting world religion, practiced by all.

  15. The world will experience astounding growth in science and technology as the Mahdi corrects all of man's scientific mistakes.

  16. The earth will experience abundant rain, and vegetation will flourish-- like an eternal springtime. Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad Mark Hitchcock, 2007, Multinomah Books p. 41. (Emphasis mine).

Let’s examine these Muslim beliefs in comparison with scriptures and beliefs of Christians regarding the end time events and the Antichrist.

  • The Mahdi is coming soon.

Jesus made it clear, and scripture confirms again and again the He is coming soon.

He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon."  Amen. Rev 22:20, NIV.

This being the case, since we know the Antichrist appears prior to Jesus return, Antichrist must appear soon.

  • He will appear suddenly.

Scripture also indicates that theAntichrist will come on the scene quite suddenly. The entire account of his influence over the earth covers a period of, at most, seven years. Since he apparently comes from relative obscurity his rise to power must be rather sudden because he only wields power during that seven year period.

  • Only God knows the time of his appearance.

Only God knows the time of the events related in Revelation and end time prophecies, therefore, only God knows the time of Antichrist’s appearance.

36 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father .  Matt 24:36, NIV.

We see in the expectations for Mahdi that he will be involved in a great war in the Middle East.

  • Sofyani, an archenemy, will attack Syria and Iraq and commit great crimes against humanity in Iraq.

  • The Mahdi will send troops who kill Sofyani in Jerusalem.

Antichrist will also involve his armies in a great war in the Middle East.

21 "He will be succeeded by a contemptible person who has not been given the honor of royalty. He will invade the kingdom when its people feel secure, and he will seize it through intrigue.

22 Then an overwhelming army will be swept away before him; both it and a prince of the covenant will be destroyed.

23 After coming to an agreement with him, he will act deceitfully, and with only a few people he will rise to power.

24 When the richest provinces feel secure, he will invade them and will achieve what neither his fathers nor his forefathers did. He will distribute plunder, loot and wealth among his followers. He will plot the overthrow of fortresses — but only for a time.

25 "With a large army he will stir up his strength and courage against the king of the South. The king of the South will wage war with a large and very powerful army, but he will not be able to stand because of the plots devised against him. Dan 11:21-25, NIV (emphasis mine).

13 The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the horns of the golden altar that is before God.

14 It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates."

15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.

16 The number of the mounted troops was two hundred million. I heard their number.

17 The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur.

18 A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths. Rev 9:13-18, NIV(emphasis mine).

The next thing mentioned about the Mahdi is that:

  • Jesus will return and serve as the Mahdi's lieutenant or deputy

Antichrist will also have a lieutenant Christians call the false prophet who will be able to work miraculous signs to deceive the people. Scripture refers to him as the beast out of the earth.

11 Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon.

12 He exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.

13 And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men.

14 Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. Rev 13:11-14, NIV (emphasis mine).

Next we are told that:

  • The Mahdi will establish the seat of his global government in the city of Kufa (in modern Iraq). His headquarters will be in the Sabla Mosque.

Scripture tells us that the antichrist will make Mystery Babylon the headquarters for his government. This is probably not literally Babylon but rather a figurative term implying that it will be an evil city.

3 Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.

4 The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries.

5 This title was written on her forehead: MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

6 I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus. When I saw her, I was greatly astonished. Rev 17:3-6, NIV.

Finally we are told that Mahdi will bring in a period of peace, justice, harmony, and prosperity under a global government. We are told that the earth will flourish under an abundance of rain, rich vegetation like eternal springtime. This is remarkably similar to what scripture say about the millennial reign of Jesus Christ when He will rule the earth with perfect peace and justice and all life will flourish.

4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Rev 20:4-5, NIV.

16 The LORD will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the sky will tremble. But the LORD will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.

17'Then you will know that I, the LORD your God, dwell in Zion, my holy hill. Jerusalem will be holy; never again will foreigners invade her.

18'In that day the mountains will drip new wine, and the hills will flow with milk; all the ravines of Judah will run with water. A fountain will flow out of the LORD's house and will water the valley of acacias.  Joel 3:16-18, NIV (emphasis mine).

It seems quite remarkable that the “Twelver” Muslim beliefs pertaining to end time events and the twelfth Imam they refer to as Mahdi mirror (very similar but reversed) views of many Christians regarding the end time events and the man they refer to as the Antichrist.

As mentioned, previously, not all radical Islamists are Shi’ite. Some are Sunni Wahhabi, like former Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. There are millions of enemies that Israel, the U.S. and other western nations face at the moment. Two, however, stand out because of their venomous hatred for western ideals, their determination to bring destruction upon us and their potential ability to carry it out.

Having seen news coverage of the events of 9/11, and other such reports many, if not most, Americans probably believe Al Qaeda to be the greatest danger to U.S security. Certainly they do pose a serious threat. Given the opportunity to do us harm; they have already proven that they will.

Nevertheless, I personally believe the most powerful and dangerous individual Shiite, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is, perhaps, the world’s most dangerous man because of his motivation. He isn't motivated by simple greed or mere desire for power and influence. He is driven by his belief that he is serving his god through destruction of everything non-Islamic. If he gets a nuclear weapon he almost certainly will use it and I believe Iran has a much better chance of getting such a weapon than any terrorist group.

Mark Hitchcock The Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad,

Ahmadinejad's conviction concerning the imminent return of the Mahdi ....furnishes him with unwavering confidence, which allows him to act recklessly upon his hatred of Israel and the West ...., most dangerously manifested in his desire to obtain nuclear weapons... Mark Hitchcock The Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad, 2007, Multinomah Books p.13-14... (Emphasis mine).

Hitchcock continues:

Our revolution's main mission is to pave the way for the reappearance of the Twelfth Imam. MAHMOUD AHMADINEJAD The Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad Mark Hitchcock, 2007, Multinomah Books p. 24.

Ahmadinejad delivered a speech at the United Nations in September 2005 ...Daniel Pipes highlights Ahmadinejad's own account of the UN address and his otherworldly experience:

One of our group told me that when I started to say "In the name of God the almighty and merciful," he saw a light around me, and I was placed inside this aura. I felt it myself. I felt the atmosphere suddenly change, and for those twenty-seven minutes, the leaders of the world did not blink.... And they were rapt. It seemed as if an unseen hand was holding them there and had opened their eyes to receive the message from the Islamic republic. The Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad Mark Hitchcock, 2007, Multinomah Books p. 35-36

Ahmadinejad wasted no time acting on his apocalyptic ideology. At great expense, he ordered the preparation of a detailed plan for the Mahdi's arrival in Tehran, including the designated route the Mahdi would take through the city. p. 42.

It has been reported that all the members of Ahmadinejad's cabinet signed a written pledge of loyalty to the Mahdi. One of the cabinet members then brought the signed pledge to the Jamkaran Mosque and dropped it in the well to be received by the Mahdi. The Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad Mark Hitchcock, 2007, Multinomah Books p. 43.

Hojjatieh view themselves as the guardians and sentinels of the Mahdi....

What's more, whereas most Shiites believe that God has appointed a time for the Mahdi's coming that cannot be affected by man. Hojjatieh devotees believe that they can encourage or hasten his arrival. They don't believe they can force the return of the Mahdi, but they do believe they can encourage his coming by stirring up chaos. This perilous Shiite precept is known as taajil. While numerous, often conflicting, accounts exist describing what will portend the Mahdi's return, the Hojjatieh believe that one of the significant signs is worldwide chaos, bloodshed, violence, and conflict.

....the Hojjatieh believe that only increased violence, conflict, and oppression will bring the Mahdi's return. The Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad Mark Hitchcock, 2007, Multinomah Books. P.42-43. (Emphasis mine).

Ahmadinejad not only believes the Armageddon will occur - he firmly believes it is his destiny to usher it in! Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hates Israel intensely. As recently as August 15, 2012 he stated publically that the annihilation of the Zionist state (Israel) is necessary for the solving of the world’s problems

How will Muslims identify Imam Mahdi?

Who is Imam Mahdi?

Source: Muslim Website:

Imam Mahdi (Descendent of Prophet Muhammad PBUH)
by Mufti A.H. Elias and Mohammad Ali ibn Zubair Ali

Who Is Imam Mahdi?

Note: Please do not confuse Imam Mahdi with Hadhrat Isa (Jesus) Alayhis Salaam. They are two different persons, and both will come during the last days. According to Hadith, Imam Mahdi will appear first, and Hadhrat Isa (A.S.) will appear during Imam Mahdi's lifetime. Furthermore, only Hadhrat Isa (A.S.) will be able to kill Dajjal (the "anti-Christ"). (Emphasis added).

The term "MAHDI" is a title meaning "The Guided one".

His Features

Hadhrat (honorific title) Abu Saeed Khudri (R.A.) relates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) (Apostle of god) said, "Al Mahdi will be from my progeny. His forehead will be broad and his nose will be high. He will fill the world with justice and fairness at a time when the world will be filled with oppression. He will rule for seven years." (Emphasis added).

Compare this with Daniel’s 70th week:

Other hadith inform us that:

* He will be tall
* He will be fair complexioned
* His facial features will be similar to those of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)
* His character will be exactly like that of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)
* His father's name will be Abdullah
* His mother's name will be Aamina
* He will speak with a slight stutter and occasionally this stutter will frustrate him causing him to hit his hand upon his thigh.
* His age at the time of his emergence will be forty years
* He will receive Knowledge from Allah. ---

Let’s look at: Rev 13:4

Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, "Who is like the beast? Who can make war against him?" Rev 13:4; NIV.

Now we continue our look at the expectations for Imam Mahdi found on this website.

His Emergence and Rule

Hadhrat Umme Salmah (R.A.) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, “After the death of a Ruler there will be some dispute between the people. At that time a citizen of Medina will flee (from Madinah) and go to Makkah. While in Makkah, certain people will approach him between Hajrul Aswad and Maqaame Ibraheem, and forcefully pledge their allegiance to him.

They believe he will save them from their enemies and change the world.

Thereafter a huge army will proceed from Syria to attack him but when they will be at Baida, which is between Makkah and Medina (Saudi Arabia), they will be swallowed into the ground. (Emphasis added).

Compare this with Rev. 12:15-17.

15 Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent.

16 But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.

17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring — those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.   Rev 12:15-17; NIV.

The serpent here is Satan who indwells and inspires Antichrist. The water like a river that is swallowed by the earth is a large army pursuing the woman, Israel. The earth will swallow the army sent by the Antichrist.

Once more we return to the website post:

On seeing this, the Abdaals of Shaam as well as large numbers of people from Iraq will come to him and pledge their allegiance to him. Then a person from the Quraish, whose uncle will be from the Bani Kalb tribe will send an army to attack him, only to be overpowered, by the will of Allah. This (defeated) army will be that of the Bani Kalb. Unfortunate indeed is he who does not receive a share from the booty of the Kalb. This person (Imam Mahdi) will distribute the spoils of war after the battle. He will lead the people according to the Sunnat and during his reign Islam will spread throughout the world. He will remain till seven years (since his emergence). He will pass away and the Muslims will perform his Janazah salaat." (Abu Dawood) (Emphasis added).

(Compare this with Daniel’s 70th week.)

Consider Daniel 11:24:

24 When the richest provinces feel secure, he will invade them and will achieve what neither his fathers nor his forefathers did. He will distribute plunder , loot and wealth among his followers. He will plot the overthrow of fortresses — but only for a time. NIV (emphasis mine).

Continuing with the quote from the website:

According to a Hadith, Sayyidena Eesa (A.S.) will lead the Janaazah of Imam Mahdi (A.S.).

While the people will be pledging their allegiance to Imaam Mahdi, a voice from the unseen will call out:

"This is the representative of Allah,
The Mahdi, and listen to him and obey him
"(Emphasis added).

Compare the voice above with Rev. 13:12-15.

2 He exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.

5 He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.  Rev 13:12-15; NIV (emphasis mine).

The website continues:

This announcement which will be heard by all those present will establish his authenticity. Another sign which will indicate the authenticity of Imam Mahdi will be that in the Ramadan prior to his emergence an eclipse of the sun and moon will occur. (Emphasis added).

Compare the above with Rev.  8:12; Isa. 13:9-11 and Joel 3:31.

12 The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night. Rev 8:12; NIV

9 See, the day of the LORD is coming — a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger — to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.

10 The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light.  Isa 13:9-10; NIV.

31 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. Joel 2:31; NIV.

And again going back to the website quote:

Hadhrat Abu Umamah (R.A.) says that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: "There will be four peace agreements between you and the Romans. The fourth agreement will be mediated through a person who will be from the progeny of Hadhrat Haroon (A.S.) and will be upheld for seven years.” (Hadhrat Haroon {Harun = Aaron}). (Emphasis added).

Compare this with Dan. 9:27.

27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing [of the temple] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him."  Dan 9:27; NIV (emphasis mine).

The website continues:

The people asked: "O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), who will be the Imam of the people at the time?"

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: "He will be from my progeny and will be forty years of age. His face will shine like a star and he will have a black spot on his left cheek. He will don two "Qutwaani" cloaks and will appear exactly as a person from the Bani Israeel..." (Tabrani)

A search of the internet for Bani Israeel led to sights referring to the prophets of Israel and to a site for the ten lost tribes of Israel. Another site spoke of the Bani Israeel as those who did not know they were from Israel.

According to hadith narrated by Abu Saeed Khudri (R.A.) Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: "...(regarding the rule of Imam Mahdi) the skies will rain down in abundance and the earth will yield forth its crop in abundance, and those alive will desire that those who have already passed away should have been alive to enjoy this prosperity..."

Next we examine whether there will there be a Russian Invasion of the Middle East.
