These are the Holy Festivals the Lord commanded the Israelites to observe. The first month of the Jewish year Nisan had three Festivals. On the 14th Passover began. On the 15th the Feast of Unleavened Bread began followed on the 16th by the Feast of First Fruits. Since the Feast of Unleavened Bread lasted seven days it overlapped with the Feast of First Fruits.
The second month Iyar had no festivals. The 6th day of the third month, Si'van is Shavouth better known as Pentecost. The fourth, fifth and sixth months had no festivals. Then in the seventh month, Tishri there were three in a fifteen day period. On the 1st day the Feast of Trumpets, followed on the 10th by Day of Atonement and then on the 15th Feast of Tabernacles. The last five months had no festivals.
To better understand why God commanded this seemingly odd grouping of their Holy Festivals read Chapter 8, Appointed Holy Days of the Lord.
